"Ha! You've gotta be faster than that if you wanna beat me, Shadow!"Sonic shouted as he looked back at Shadow.

"All this stupid sand is jamming my air shoes!"Shadow replied

"Well don't blame me, I told you we were coming to Emerald Beach"

"Yeah, yeah whatever"

"Hehe...GAAAHH!!"Sonic shrieked as something tripped him.

"OH my dearest Sonic, I found you!"Amy said gleaming with joy.

"Haha see ya later Sonic!"Shadow said with a grin as he zoomed passed.

"AAAAHHHH! Amy!"Sonic complained with a frown

"Sonic, your late for the Shooting Star Picnic! Everyone's waiting for you and shadow"

"I know Amy! Why do you think Shadow and I were rushing over here?"

"Well it doesn't matter, lets go"

"Oh Sonic! What took you so long? Were you two on a romantic stroll or something?" Shadow asked sarcastically as Sonic and Amy arrived at the picnic

"Actually we were…"

"Yes we were, thanks for asking Shadow!"Amy replied cutting off Sonic.

Before he could reply Silver stepped infront of him.

"Oh, hey Silver. Wasup?"

"Hi Sonic. Nothin' much, but you might want to sit down soon the shooting stars are about to come"Silver Replied with a smile"

"Thanks Silver I'll do that"

Sonic walked over to the picnic blankets and sat down next to Tails

"Hi Sonic! Your just in time, Chilli dog?"Tails said holding up a chilli dog

"Thanks Tails, you always know how to make me smile"Sonic replied taking the chilli dog from his best friend.

"It's starting everybody!"Blaze shouted pointing to the sky.

Everyone looked up and there sure enough was the first star.

"How exciting isnt it Miss Rouge?"Sonic heard Cream saying in the distance.

He didnt hear the reply because he was to busy looking for the next star.

Half an hour went by and three more shooting stars had shown up. Sonic was tired and was thinking of heading home. But before he did one more star showed up.

"Look mommy!"Cream shouted "That one's really big!"

"It sure is sweety"Creams mom, Vanilla, replied

"Hey, wait a second!"Silver exclaimed "That's coming straight at us! Run!!"

Everyone dived for safety as the star impacted Earth.

"Is everyone OK!?"Sonic asked

Everyone was uninjured. Sonic walked over the the fallen star and stared at it. As he was looking at it something small and black shot out of the star and hit Sonic in the chest. Sonic gasped in pain. As he examined his chest four giant arms exploded out of the star followed by the rest of what seemed to be a monstrous alien. It turned and looked at sonic.

"Bring me the Oracle Scepter or your friends will die!"The creature exclaimed

6 portals opened in the air and everyone except sonic was sucked inside.

"Sonic! Help me!!"He heard someone shout.

"I have given you the power to complete this task. Do not fail!!"The creature shouted as it vanished in to thin air.

Sonic fell to his knees. He couldnt believe what had just happened.

Who was this creature?
Where had his friends gone?
What was this task.

Sonic gripped his chest as it started hurting again and one last thought ran through his mind.
